Pres. Duterte holds full Cabinet meeting
Matters concerning health, economy, and transportation will be tackled in the full Cabinet meeting headed by President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang tonight.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured the Cabinet will discuss the response to the plight of each sector affected by the pandemic, including that of jeepney drivers.
“Ang issue po sa (The issue on) jeepney has always been roadworthiness… Ang problema po talaga ngayon ay paano pataasin pa iyong sektor ng transportasyon na pwedeng buksan kasi singkwenta porsiyento ng ekonomiya ay bukas, pero treinta porsiyento lang po ang transportasyon (The problem now is how to increase transportation capacity because 50 percent of the economy is now open while transportation is only at 30 percent),” Roque stated.
Roque also announced on Monday afternoon that the regular public address of President Duterte will be moved to a later day due to the “very long agenda for Cabinet meeting.”
Meanwhile, Roque said on Monday that once available, an update will be immediately given on the appeal to allow people with foreign partners to enter or leave the country.
“Outbound, iyong mga paalis, wala pa pong agreement in principle… For inbound, ang problema po kasi talaga natin, wala po tayong separate fiancé visa gaya ng ilang mga bansa gaya ng Estados Unidos (There is still no agreement in principle for outbound travels… For inbound, the problem is we do not have a separate fiancé visa, unlike countries such as the US),” Roque clarified.
Regarding the reported mishandling of personal data in contact tracing activities of some business establishments, Roque reminded that everyone should comply with the law. – Report from Mela Lesmoras / ptvnews.ph
