PHL EMBASSY PARTICIPATES AT THE ONE VILLAGE ONE PRODUCT (1K1P) BRUNEI DARUSSALAM EXPO 2017

The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Melvin C. Almonguera, participated in the One Village One Product (1Kampong 1Produk) Brunei Darussalam Expo 2017 organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs in conjunction with the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of His Majesty The Sultan’s Accession to the Throne from 01 to 05 November 2017 at the International Convention Center (ICC).

Brunei’s Minister of Home Affairs and Guest of Honor, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, officially opened the Expo, together with senior government officials of Brunei Darussalam, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

Highlighted activities during the Expo include the 1K1P Exhibition, business matching and seminars for SMEs, the ASEAN Food Festival, and ASEAN Cultural Performances.

The PHL booth for the Expo is decorated with woven materials such as the banig,  t’nalak and sinamay fabrics.  The PHL barong made of jusi and piña and other decorative items highlighting indigenous materials such as capiz, nito, and bamboo, are also showcased in the booth while the tourism promotional videos from the Department of Tourism are played in loop.

The Embassy also invited a Filipino entrepreneur in Brunei to display and vend items in the booth during the five-day event. Philippine-made products featured in the booth include the sungka, Philippine Islands souvenir shirts, and delicacies such as polvoron, dried mangoes and mamon, among others.

The One Kampong 1 Produk (1K1P) Expo is aimed to bring together both local and international vendors from the ASEAN region to introduce their products and to foster and promote international relationships. Said Expo serves as an avenue for the Embassy to strongly promote Filipino culture, food, and arts in Brunei Darussalam. END
