Lt. General Rolando Joselito D. Bautista AFP, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, undertook an introductory visit to Brunei Darussalam on January 23 to 26.
The highlights of Lt. General Bautista’s visit include his talk on the “Marawi Incident” held at the Embassy, participated in by a hundred attendees coming from the Filipino Community (FilCom) organizations and the Embassy personnel.
During his talk, Lt. General Bautista shared the Philippine Army’s experiences during the five-month campaign in neutralizing the Maute-ISIS Group leading to the liberation of Marawi City on October 23, 2017. He also updated the audience on the Philippine government’s on-going rehabilitation efforts in Marawi City.
Other highlighted activities of Lt. General Bautista during his visit to Brunei include his calls on Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, (then) Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); Brig. General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, (then) Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF); and Philippine Ambassador Meynardo L.B. Montealegre, who also hosted a high-tea for Lt. General Bautista and his delegation at the Ambassador’s residence.
Lt. General Bautista articulated that the talk he conducted was part of the Philippine government’s public diplomacy efforts on the Marawi incident and the on-going rehabilitation efforts in said city. END
