PHL Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre received a delegation consisting of representatives from Toon City Animation (Philippines) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during the group’s visit to Brunei Darussalam on November 23 to 24.
Delegation members who called on Ambassador Montealegre included Mr. Juan Miguel Del Rosario, President and CEO of Toon City; Mr. Rene de Guzman, Vice President, Resources Development of Toon City; and Mr. Jose Ma. “Jojie” S. Dinsay, Trade Services Officer and Director of the Mindanao Business Development Strategic Initiatives at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Toon City is the animation production house for major clients around the world, including Walt Disney Television Animation, Universal Animation, Warner Bros. Animation, and MoonScoop Productions, among others, offering the very best in high quality traditional, 3D/CGI and flash animation artistry.
The group was in Brunei Darussalam upon the invitation of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), as part of its initiative in developing Brunei’s creative industry in pursuit of the country’s economic diversification drive.
During the call on Ambassador Montealegre and meeting with BEDB officials, respectively, the Toon City representatives shared their plan on providing animation training to locals, creating a pool out of the selected trainees, and exploring the possibility of setting up an office in Brunei which will assist the Manila office in production works.
