The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. (CDA) Pete Raymond V. Delfin, together with members of the Filipino Community, held a Flag Raising ceremony marking the 120th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held at the Embassy grounds on June 12, 2018. The occasion was attended by close to 200 members of the Filipino Community.
CDA Delfin was assisted by Col. Jose Ricky A. Laniog, Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (DAFA), and MSgt. Romelito A. Galeos, ODAFA Administrative Assistant, in hoisting the Philippine flag.
The Independence Day Messages of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, and Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III were then read by CDA Delfin, Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas, Defense Attaché Col. Jose Ricky A. Laniog, and Labor Attaché Melissa C. Mendizabal, respectively.
CDA Delfin also thanked the members of the Filipino Community for their continued support and cooperation with the Embassy. In line with this year’s theme, “Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan,” he called on Filipino Community members to unite for a collective commitment to sustain the positive outcomes of the meaningful reforms that had been undertaken and are currently being pursued by the Philippine Government in bringing about inclusive and accessible economic growth for all Filipinos.
