The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam held its second Post Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) last Sunday, 08 July 2018 at the Chancery. Almost ninety (90) participants, mostly Household Service Workers (HSWs) and representatives of accredited recruitment agencies, attended the event.
Chargé d’ Affaires Pete Raymond V. Delfin welcomed the participants and gave a brief overview on the role of the Embassy in protecting and promoting the welfare of Overseas Filipinos (OFs). He emphasized the importance of taking care of one’s physical and mental health while working overseas and strongly encouraged the participants to always seek the advice and assistance of the Embassy for their concerns.
Vice Consul Jaybee Arguillas presented the Embassy’s consular services and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Officer Mark Arinquin discussed ATN services. Labor Attaché Melissa Mendizabal talked on the functions of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) office. Pag-IBIG Fund representative Ms. Edna C. Penahermoso, and Social Security System (SSS) representative Mr. Aldous Brian D. Corpuz, oriented the participants on their available programs.
PAOS attendees expressed appreciation to the Embassy for conducting the event regularly and for providing information on its services for Filipinos in Brunei. As part of its Empowerment Program for Overseas Filipinos, the Embassy conducts PAOS once every quarter, particularly for HSWs.
The Filipinos in attendance were also invited to attend the Embassy’s 2nd Health Awareness Forum and Screening that will be held on 22 July 2018.END
