A contingent of more than two hundred members of the Filipino Community (FilCom) joined the grand parade for the 35th Brunei National Day held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saiffuddien on 23 February 2019.

Graced by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and members of the Royal Family, the event gathered more than 25,000 participants coming from the military and police establishments, government ministries, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, community associations, and expatriate groups, waving the Brunei flag as they marched pass the Royal Dais.

Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas and Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col. Jose Ricky A. Laniog represented the Philippine Embassy during the occasion, joining other members of the Diplomatic Corps seated at the VIP area to witness the grand parade.

The Philippine Embassy extended full support and assistance to the Philippine contingent for its participation in this year’s Brunei National Day celebration, particularly during the group’s marching rehearsals held at the Embassy grounds, in the preparation of their costumes, as well as during the event through the provision of food and refreshments to the participants.
