Filipino athletes from Mindanao and Palawan will take action in eight (8) events at the 10th Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Northern Territory – East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMPNT-EAGA) Friendship Games to be hosted by Brunei in December this year.

Pete Raymond V. Delfin, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. (CDA) of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei, recently met with Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) official Mariam binti Ulat to discuss Philippine participation in the sports event. Three Philippine teams (Davao, Mindanao and Palawan) will compete with other youth athletes from Brunei Indonesia, Malaysia and Northern Territory (Australia) in the games.

The Embassy’s Cultural and Information Officer Rose Paz Narvaja-Cornista as well as Political and Economic Assistant Frederick A. Rili joined Chargé d’Affaires Delfin during said meeting. The Brunei officials also present during the meeting were Youth and Sports Officer Siti Hadinahwati binti Hj Abd Majid and Youth and Sports Officer Bakhtiar bin Haji Buntan.

With the theme “Cooperation through Sports,” the 10th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games will feature sports such as athletics, swimming, lawn bowling, karatedo (kata), sepak takraw, pencak silat (seni), taekwondo, and wushu.

The BIMPNT-EAGA Youth Exchange Programme will also be held in Bandar Seri Begawan on 05-10 December 2018 in conjunction with the Friendship Games. END
