Representatives from the various Filipino Community organizations in Brunei Darussalam participated during the Golden Jubilee Royal Procession in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of His Majesty The Sultan’s Accession to the Throne. Also in attendance at the Golden Jubilee parade were fifty (50) crew members of the Philippine Navy frigate, Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Andres Bonifacio, which undertook a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam upon the invitation of the Royal Brunei Navy in conjunction with the celebration.
The Filipino Community contingent, wearing Filipiniana attire with red, blue and white sash and three yellow stars, joined the estimated 80,000-strong crowd that lined the main streets of the capital to greet His Majesty The Sultan as he rode through the capital in the Royal Chariot.
On board the Royal Chariot were His Majesty The Sultan, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and other members of the Royal Family.
The PHL Embassy extended full support to the Filipino Community contingent for their participation in this historic event, particularly in their costumes, the provision of food and refreshments, and the coordination with the Brunei Golden Jubilee Advisory Committee with regards to the logistics and guidelines during the event itself.
