The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam conducted a Gender and Development (GAD) forum titled “Immigration Regulations in Brunei Darussalam” on 26 October 2017 at the Chancery.  It was the Embassy’s fourth quarter GAD activity for the year.

The resource speakers for the forum were Pg Noor Azimawati binti Pg Haji Tengah, Senior Chief Immigration Officer, and Mr. Alimon bin Haji Jaafar, Chief Immigration Officer, from the Foreign Work Section of the National Immigration and Registration Department of Brunei Darussalam.  During the forum, they discussed existing rules and regulations on visas, sponsorship requirements and other related topics.

The activity was attended by around fifty (50) Overseas Filipinos (OFs), mostly females.

In his remarks, Ambassador Meynardo LB. Montealegre thanked the speakers for their availability and their assistance for the benefit of the Filipino Community. He also stressed to the attendees the importance of being aware of the host country’s regulations in order to be productive members of the community.

The Embassy also conducted a Blood Donation activity, which preceded the Forum. It was held in partnership with the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Donation Centre.

After the GAD events, the participants were given tokens of appreciation and were treated to a simple merienda.

The Embassy regularly conducts GAD activities that promote gender and development issues for the benefit of Filipinos in Brunei, particularly for their empowerment and enhanced productivity. END
