The 6th BIMP-EAGA Small and Medium Enterprises Development (SMED) Working Group Meeting (WGM) was held at the Design and Technology Building in Bandar Seri Begawan on 13-14 August 2018. The Philippines was represented by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–XI Provincial Director Romeo L. Castañaga as Country Head for the BIMP-EAGA SME Development Working Group. He was joined by Philippine Embassy’s Economic Assistant Frederick A. Rili during the Meeting.
Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) Deputy Permanent Secretary Tutiaty Abdul Wahab officially opened the 6th SMED WGM on 13 August 2018.
The highlights of the 6th SMED WGM included the presentation of the highlights of BIMP-EAGA Related Meetings: 5th SMED WGM (Kota Kinabalu, 01-02 August 2017), 21st BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting (Tarakan, North Kalimantan, 30 November–03 December 2017), and the 2018 Strategic Planning Meeting (Bandar Seri Begawan, 11-14 February 2018); presentation by the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC); presentation on the Outcome and Follow Upon the BIMP-EAGA Trade and Investment Seminar in Guangxi, China, 12-14 September 2017; discussion on the Rolling Pipeline of Projects 1, 2017-2019 (RP1 Projects); discussion on the proposed Exploratory Business Mission to Indonesia (presented by the Philippines); and discussion on the Training on Economic Corridor Development for Competitive and Inclusive Asia.
