DOH investigating conflicting Covid results in Pampanga
The Department of Health (DOH) said it is investigating two incidents of conflicting Covid-19 results from private laboratories and government laboratories in Pampanga.
This, as the DOH reported that the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country rose 220,819 on Monday.
Of the confirmed cases, 59,699 (27 percent) are active cases, 157,562 (71.4 percent) have recovered and 3,558 (1.6 percent) have died.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they received the report over the weekend and immediately coordinated the matter to the regional office to find out the circumstances behind the incidents.
“There were two Covid-19 patients who were tested. After two days they were retested and the results were different from the previous,” Vergerie said in Filipino.
Vergeire was referring to a report wherein Governor Dennis Pineda said that the test results in RT-PCR were positive but their confirming swab test results from government laboratories were turned negative.
The DOH official noted that is part of its mandate to ensure that laboratories provide accurate results and she assured that the DOH will not let a laboratory operate without assurance of quality control.
As of 4 p.m. of August 31, the DOH logged 3,446 confirmed cases based on the total tests done by 97 out of 110 current operational labs.
There were 165 recoveries and 38 deaths were reported.
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were National Capital Region with 1,528 or 52 percent, Region 4A (442 or 15 percent), and Region 3 (275 or 9 percent).— Source: businessmirror.com.ph
