3 new Edsa median bus stops to open Sept. 5
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said three new bus stops along the median lanes of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa) will open on Saturday.
In a statement, the DOTr said the new bus stops are in North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, and Nepa Q-Mart, all located in the northern end of Edsa in Quezon City.
“Dahil dito, madaragdagan na ang mga lugar kung saan papayagang sumakay at bumaba ang mga pasahero ng bus na bumabaybay sa Edsa Busway (Through these, there will be more places where commuters would be allowed to ride and get off buses plying the Edsa Busway),” it said.
The three new bus stops are in addition to four existing stops along Edsa’s median lanes –
those in Guadalupe, Ortigas, Santolan, and Main Avenue.
To date, Edsa has 15 completed bus stops located in both median and outer lanes.
Once the Edsa Busway project is complete, there will be a total of 29 bus stops.
“Ang mga nalalabi ay unti-unting bubuksan matapos kumpletuhin ang mga kinakailangang imprastraktura at kagamitan upang masiguro na ito ay magiging ligtas sa mga pasahero (The remaining bus stops will be gradually opened once the necessary infrastructure and equipment are complete to ensure the safety of commuters),” the DOTr said.
Earlier, it said four buses with doors at the left side have been deployed to operate along the Edsa Busway to enhance the safety of loading and unloading in median lane bus stops, with plans to deploy more in the future.
The Edsa Busway covers the thoroughfare’s middle lanes and is dedicated to the operation of city buses.
The department said from the previous two- to three-hour bus ride from Monumento to PITX, the Edsa Busway has cut the traveling time to only 45 minutes to an hour. — Source:/ (PNA)
